What is a Code Camp?
A code camp is a local .NET conference where local developers have a chance to learn from and interact with their peers in the community. The cost is free to attend and no one is paid for speaking or participating in any way. Presentations and materials shared with conference attendees must be original and provided at no charge and without restriction.
The code camp is an informal gathering of local .NET developers who are keen to learn and passionate about sharing their experiences.
How can I attend the Code Camp?
The Code Camp will be held on Saturday April 8th 2006 from 9am to 5pm (or later). Attendance is free, but space is limited so you will need to register. For registration info please see the bottom of this page.
How do I speak at the Code Camp?
There are two possibilities for speaking at the code camp:
a) Presentation sessions will take place in the main presentation room. We are looking for 30-45 minute sessions, with 15 minutes of question and answer. We want to see more code than PowerPoint slides. Send an email with your proposed topic to info@vicdotnet.org so we can include you in the list!
b) Breakout sessions are more informal and will take place in the smaller breakout room. We are looking for a wide range of topics that can take anywhere from 5 to 60 minutes. If you have a topic you are passionate or confused about, send us an email at info@vicdotnet.org to let us know what it is so we can put it on the agenda. Then when you get there grab a marker and join up with your fellow developers to discuss code designs or problems and solutions.
Never presented before? Don’t be shy! Code Camp is for you! The strength of a code camp is seeing and interacting with all of our local developer peers!
How can my company participate in the Code Camp?
During the lunch session we will be having a career fair in the breakout room. Any company in the local Victoria area looking to hire .NET developers is encouraged to have their .NET developer employees in attendance to meet potential future employees. Any developers looking for a .NET developer position should come by and see what the local companies have to offer!
All local companies should encourage their developers to attend this event. The training and tips provided at the code camp are invaluable to even the most seasoned developers. Some companies have even reported giving their developers a regularly scheduled day off in exchange for attending the code camp. It will be great experience!
Who is making the Code Camp happen?
The Code Camp is being organized by the Victoria .NET Developers Association and paid for by the Developers Association and its sponsors.
I don't want to speak, but I'd still like to help out. How can I help?
We are looking for volunteers to help us make the day run smoothly. Email us at info@vicdotnet.org to volunteer and let us know what you are willing to help out with.
What about lunch?
A lunch pack (contents TBA) will be provided to all attendees. Brink a snack and some drinks if you get hungry.
